The Lyceum Club of Fontainebleau was founded in 1962 by Denise Merle d ’Aubigné.
Since its founding, the presence of NATO at Fontainebleau and the fast development of INSEAD have strongly influenced the club’s activities towards a global outlook, notably working to spread French culture to the international community.
Friendship is the foundation of the club and it is with great joy that we connect with the other Lyceum clubs at the annual General Assembly, and meet every two years with our Lausanne twins alternatively in France and Switzerland.
Despite not being primarily a service club, it was a pleasure for us to help associations such as « Personimage », « The House of Tom Pouce », « Martine Geliot-Young Talented Persons », in order to buy medical equipment, to welcom young mothers in distress,  and to encourage artists.
Each club president brings her touch and her ideas which concretely benefit the whole club so that little by little it has developed beyond Melun, capital of Seine-et-Marne, which explains its new name : Lyceum Club of Fontainebleau Ile de France which celebrated with great success its 50-year anniversary in 2012.
Since its creation,  16 presidents have continually succeeded at the helm of the Club, retaining its originality, its warm welcome, and its varied activities always oriented toward the sharing of knowledge, culture, and the discovery of our heritage.
